This intimate double-bill is presented in a unique wooden space, the Komsio Dome. One performer on stage and the intimacy of the dome with space for 35 people guarantee an extraordinary experience for the audience and the artist.
In 2017, the Berlin Circus Festival awarded its first artist's residence to Sasu Peistola to work and create on-site over the course of the festival. We are very pleased to welcome him back to the festival with his now finished performance "Väkevä". The delicate piece "Lyydia" will be presented by his wife Jenni Lehtinen.
Sasu Peistola remembers an audience quote from a Try Out show: "I absolutely wouldn't try this myself." Gut-wrenching stunts from the past - a journey through the world of old circus stunts. The intimate circle of the audience becomes the arena for the artist, who is introducing the history of circus stunts. He is the living example of the historic strong man and iron jaw in Väkevä. With his muscles and teeth, he is performing gut wrenching stunts from the past. Strength, skill and presence are the essence of this truly memorable one-man show.
Dynamic movement, elegant skills - the solo show Lyydia is a stunning combination of delicate handstands, dynamic aerials and lyrical movements. The wooden dome is the playground and canvas for Jenni Lehtinen, who explores the question of boundaries and meets the public with pure expressiveness. The performance is dedicated to the question of why people want to push their bodies to the limits of their capacities. This question was asked by the performer to a group of extreme athletes (skydivers, mountain climbers and also circus artists). In Lyydia she combines her artistic style with the answers to her research. A touching and elegant counterpart, which skillfully relates to "Väkevä."
